Which night suits which visitor

The first question: a jazz band, or music in the background? Only the Jazz Boat and the Reduta club put a band in front of you. The dinner cruises have live background music, and the one-hour jazz-style cruise plays recorded jazz.

Every tour here cancels free up to 24 hours before. Booked direct with the operator, the Jazz Boat starts at €49 in 2026, and dinner is a €31 set menu on top.

Before you book

One boat, a real band.

The Jazz Boat is a small river boat run as a floating jazz club. A trio or quartet plays three sets while the boat cruises the Vltava for two and a half hours, past Charles Bridge, the National Theatre and the lit Castle. The band changes from one sailing to the next, and the programme on the operator's site names them.

Dinner is optional. You can add one of four set menus when you book, or come for the music and order a drink and a snack on board. Tables seat several guests, so you may share one with other people.

The guide

The Jazz Boat, explained

One boat, a live band on every sailing and the best view in Prague. Here is how an evening works and what you pay for.

How the evening works

The Jazz Boat leaves Terminal 18 on Dvořákovo nábřeží at 7:30 p.m. on most evenings and is back two and a half hours later. A trio or quartet plays three sets a few metres from the tables, while the boat runs along the Vltava past Charles Bridge, the National Theatre and the Castle.

The operator calls it a genuine jazz club, and that is the right way to think of it: the music comes first and the view second. The band changes from one sailing to the next, and the programme names each one by date.

Three sets, two and a half hours.

Tickets, dinner and drinks

On GetYourGuide the Jazz Boat starts from $46 for the cruise and concert, and the Popular option adds a 3-course menu. Booked direct, the concert cruise starts at €49 in 2026 and each set menu is €31. Drinks are ordered at the table and paid on board in Czech crowns.

Live or recorded? Cheaper cruises sold as "jazz style" play recorded jazz, and dinner cruises have a pianist or an accordionist in the background. If you want a band, book the Jazz Boat or a club night at Reduta.

When to go

The boat sails all year, with fewer sailings in January. In December the programme adds 4:30 p.m. sailings on many days, so you can catch the river at dusk and still make the Christmas markets. Summer evenings are light until late; in winter the city is lit by the time you leave the pier.

The other music cruises

A dinner cruise gives you a three-hour buffet with live background music; the glass-boat lunch does the same by day. For the canal under Charles Bridge, take the Prague Venice boats.

FAQ

Questions before you book

Straight answers to what people ask most about the Prague jazz boat and the river cruises.

Is the Prague jazz boat worth it?

Yes, if you want live music: a jazz trio or quartet plays three sets while the boat cruises the Vltava for two and a half hours past the lit Charles Bridge and Castle. Book it for the music and the view; dinner is optional. More in is the jazz boat worth it.

What is the best boat tour in Prague?

It depends on the evening you want. For live jazz, the Jazz Boat. For a big buffet, a dinner cruise. For the lowest price, an hour on the river. For the canal under Charles Bridge, the Prague Venice boats. The full comparison is in the best boat tour in Prague.

How much is a river cruise in Prague?

On GetYourGuide an hour on the Vltava starts from about $14, the Prague Venice canal cruise from $25, the Jazz Boat from $46 and a dinner cruise from $77. Booked direct, the Jazz Boat starts at €49 in 2026, and its dinner is a €31 add-on.

How long is the Prague jazz boat cruise?

Two and a half hours. It leaves at 7:30 p.m. on most evenings, with extra 4:30 p.m. sailings on many days in December, and boarding starts about 15 minutes before.

Where does the Prague jazz boat leave from?

From Terminal 18 on Dvořákovo nábřeží, the Old Town embankment by Čech Bridge, Prague 1. Several dinner cruises leave from the same embankment, so check the boat name on your ticket.

Is the jazz live on every jazz cruise in Prague?

No. The Jazz Boat has a live band. The cheap one-hour jazz-style cruise plays recorded jazz with audio commentary, and the dinner cruises have live background music such as a pianist or an accordionist, not a jazz concert.

Is dinner included on the Prague jazz boat?

Only if you choose it. The basic ticket is the cruise and the concert; you can add one of four set menus (salmon, pork, chicken or vegetarian), or just order drinks and snacks on board.

What should I wear on a boat tour in Prague?

There is no dress code: smart casual is fine on the Jazz Boat and the dinner cruises. Bring a warm layer for the open deck in the evening and flat shoes for the steps at the pier. See what to wear on a Prague boat cruise.

Does Prague have a good jazz scene?

Yes. Czech jazz goes back to Jaroslav Ježek between the two world wars, and today there are concerts every night in clubs such as Reduta, AghaRTA and Jazz Dock, plus the Jazz Boat on the river. The clubs are compared in Prague jazz clubs.

What is the oldest jazz club in Prague?

Reduta, on Národní street near the National Theatre, opened in 1957. Bill Clinton played the saxophone there in 1994, a gift from Václav Havel. You can book a seat for its evening concert.

Where is Prague Venice?

Prague Venice is the Čertovka, a narrow channel of the Vltava along Kampa island, right by Charles Bridge, with old mills and houses on the water. Small boats sail it in 45 minutes. See Prague Venice by boat.

Is a boat party in Prague worth it?

For a night out with DJs and a club afterwards, yes; it is a party, not a sightseeing or jazz cruise. The popular one has two hours on the river and entry to EPIC club.
